Hi all,
We’ve been working really hard behind the scenes to try and bring back Couch to 5K at Witton Park within a Covid Secure Environment.
The latest position is that we have completed a comprehensive risk assessment and at the moment, the only way we can safely operate is with 1 x Run Leader and 5 participants per group. We would implement Test and Trace, a booking system for each session and run routes would have to be agreed in advance with staggered meeting and start times.
Unfortunately, we have concluded that the current restrictions preclude us from operating in a practicable, enjoyable and safe manner.
I’m in contact with the Directors of Public Health for both Blackburn with Darwen and Lancashire. Both fully understand the importance of Blackburn Couch to 5k from a community, physical and mental health perspective and are regularly reviewing the position.
In the meantime we are putting the finishing touches to our new Community Run Leader training programme, and we hope to be sending invitations out in the very near future. This one day training session is suitable for all our amazing Run Leaders and Volunteers, including C25K, SportWalking, Social and Progression Groups.
Keep staying safe, looking out for each other and I absolutely cannot wait until we can get back to some normality; doing what we do best!
